We began the day by invoking the Holy Spirit, in a prayer lead by the Sisters of the Rome Region. In the morning Fr. Libânio gave us a sociological analysis of our reality today. This analysis encompassed the political, economic, cultural, social and religious dimensions of today’s world that influence our Ecclesial and Religious Life. Fr. Libânio led us into a reflection on where we find ourselves, as more or less included in the system of the neo-liberal globalization of our society.
After this we began our analysis of the reports from the Salvatorian Units in the different countries. The first block of units included Austria, Brazil/Santa Catarina, Colombia and the Philippines. These Sisters dialogued with Fr. Libânio, touching on such topics of our Ecclesial and Religious Life as the relationship between ritual and spontaneity, between privacy and community openness, our witness and evangelization in the Church and society.
In the afternoon, the Salvatorian Units of Belgium, Brazil/Săo Paulo, Germany, the United States and Rome had the opportunity to dialogue with Fr. Libânio about the following topics: the emancipation of women in society and in the Church, the phenomenon of the Catholic faith losing prestige in secularized societies, cultural diversity, corruption, poverty and migration, as well as networking and partnerships in mission. These dialogues were very rich and profound, helping us to better comprehend our reality in the different countries where we are present.
Some other members of the Salvatorian Family were present: Fr. Andrew Urbanski, Fr. Piet Cujpers and Fr. Paul Portland, as well as Mr. Christian Patzl, Mrs. Judy Davis and Mrs. Sharon Clark, Lay Salvatorians.
We concluded the day with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Libânio. During the homily, Sisters from the Units of South Tyrol and Poland presented their logos, based on the Chapter theme.
