This morning Rome awoke to a thick covering of fog. But, since we had a very sunny day of rest yesterday, all the Sisters were well disposed to re-initiate our work for this last week of General Chapter.
The Sisters from São Paulo, Brazil, animated the morning prayer by proposing that we meditate on the symbol of the water jar, in reference to the icon of the Samaritan woman at the well, after her meeting with Jesus: Salvatorian Woman, take up your water jar and go live and announce a culture of solidarity within your culture and in the unjust and violent world.
Afterwards, Sr. Helene Wecker (Coordinator of the Historical Study Group “Mother Mary of the Apostles”) presented to us the new books, published this year, on the history of Mother Mary of the Apostles and the beginnings of our foundation, as well as projects for future publications.
For the rest of the morning and afternoon we remained in plenary session to analyze, discuss, give suggestions and also to approve some of the numerous proposals that the Chapter has to decide. One subject under prolonged consideration was the draft of the Salvatorian Family Charter, which will be approved by the leadership of the three branches of the Salvatorian Family for the next 6 years.
We concluded this day by celebrating the Eucharist, presided by Fr. Josephat Mahuza, SDS, and prepared by the Sisters from Tanzania. Members of the General Coordination of the Society of the Divine Savior have been with us consistently during these days.
