S. Maria Yaneth Moreno Rodriguez and S. Lilly Kurian began their official Generalate visitation in the Sri Lankan province on February 2, 2020. This province has 71 sisters. Young people are still attracted to the religious life and so in this province they have young sisters, novices, postulants and candidates. This gives us hope for the future of this Province.
S. Maria Yaneth and S. Lilly Kurian visited all the communities, the apostolates, and the missions of the sisters. They respond zealously to the hungers of the human family, especially in solidarity with the poor, oppressed, vulnerable, sick, addicted, trafficked women, children and youth.
The Generalate also met the Lay Salvatorian groups and the Salvatorian Fathers. They also participated in the opening of a new Mission in Wella, Chilaw Diocese. It is a 100 percent catholic parish comprised of the fisher folk.
Another beautiful mission that the Generalate has witnessed is the Blessing of a home, constructed through the housing project of the Province. It was given to a family who did not have a house.
In conclusion, this was an intense time but a great experience to be with the sisters and to see how committed they are to the protection of life. It was also touching to meet and to know more the lives of the people.
